Stratasys J750

OVERVIEW

The Stratasys J750 polyjet 3D printer delivers unrivaled aesthetic performance including true, full Pantone colour capability with texture mapping and colour gradients -- allowing you to make perfect prototypes a reality. The J750 lets users choose from more than 360,000 different color shades, plus multiple material properties - ranging from rigid to flexible and opaque to transparent. Prototypes can combine a vast array of colors, materials and material properties in the same part, speeding production of realistic models, prototypes and parts for virtually any application need - as well as delivering incomparable 3D printing versatility to produce tooling, molds, jigs and fixtures, and more.

Polyjet 3D printing technology is similar to inkjet printing, but instead of jetting drops of ink onto paper, polyJet 3D printers jet layers of curable liquid photopolymer onto a build tray. The liquid photopolymer is then directly UV cured to create a solid 3D object. Simply stated, these are the ultimate 3D printer for product development, rapid prototyping and high accuracy manufacturing applications. Your parts will have the look, feel, function, and geometric accuracy that no other 3D printer can match.

IND150: Learning the Stratasys J750 Polyjet Printer

A 3D printer that can print objects in full vibrant color and a host of materials simultaneously seems like something out of Star Trek... and yet you have access to one as part of the MAP program! Material Jetting (MJ), otherwise known as polyjet 3D printing, is a 3D printing process where droplets of material are jetted out and cured on a build plate. Using microscopic droplets of photopolymer resin that cure when exposed to light, objects are built up one layer at a time.

Material jetting works in a similar way to a standard inkjet printer does, mixing and depositing cyan, magenta, yellow, and black/white material. The key difference is that, instead of printing a single layer of CMYK ink, multiple layers of CMYK resin are built upon each other to create a solid part. MJ is best known as one of the only types of 3D printing technology capable of printing full-color objects made of multiple materials simultaneously. Meaning that yes, you can actually 3D print an entire shoe, top to bottom.
